Universal Basic Income
The nationalists promised a long time ago that council tax would be scrapped. Guess what, Scottish households are still paying it!
Now the new chat is Universal Basic Income (UBI). UBI would see every person in Scotland receive a sum of money 'guaranteed' by the Government in order for them to live an easier life.
Sounds great? Maybe...
Apparently this can only be achieved with independence or a radically different Union. However, the last time I checked 44.6% of Scottish adults already receive benefits.
I struggle to see how this can be paid for. It's maybe possible. But, I'm not convinced (yet). I wonder how many people in Scotland will buy in to this?
We're still paying council tax years after the initial promise. Is this just another nationalist ploy trying to ramp up support for the 'cause'???
