A New Superpower?

REFERENDUM: 10th of March 2013 the Falkland Islands voted to establish if the islanders wished to remain apart of the 'British Family'...

The people of the Falkland Islands have voted overwhelmingly in favour of remaining a UK overseas territory.
Of 1,517 votes cast in the two-day referendum - on a turnout of more than 90% - 1,513 were in favour, while just three votes were against.

The population of the Falkland Islands is small. However, their decision commands respect.

Unless you are a nation with an authoritarian regime. China has now backed Argentina's claim to the Falklands Islands, the claim was displayed on China's London Embassy Website.

Argentina also signed up to China's Belt and Road infrastructure initiative, a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by Beijing in 2013.

The world is changing, US Hegemony is now being challenged. And the problem we have with the Falkland Islands, is that they are not protected under Article 4 of NATO.

We need a new superpower, one that can hold off China for longer. The 5 Eyes must unite further. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, The UK and USA. I am a huge advocate of CANZUK, and it could play a part in a Five Nation Alliance. But, I don't think it would be powerful enough to stem the rise of an assertive China.

A Five Nation Alliance (Confederation) based on a Free Trade, Defence, Diplomatic and a Foreign Policy Union would be very easy to construct out of the already existing 5 Eyes partnership. It would need to be coherent, trust worthy and work as a single machine through it's defined roles. The USA could even take part in the Commonwealth Games as an honorary competitor to secure the global sphere of influence.

This may sound crazy. But, drastic moves such as this, will become inevitable and necessary if the west wishes to compete and have a chance of succeeding in the new world that we are all entering.
